This Viral TikTok Hack Keeps Your Flowers Fresh for Weeks

Keep your house looking fresh and save money while doing it.

A fresh bunch of flowers in a vase is the ultimate treat for your home. They elevate your space, keep it smelling fresh, and are the cherry on top for interior decorating. This time of year is a great time to have flowers in your home. Whether you’re having guests over on Christmas day or spending the next few weeks at home on holidays, flowers are a beautiful way to spruce up your space.

However, constantly purchasing flowers can be costly, so making them last as long as possible is extremely helpful – especially if you’ve got people visiting your place during the holiday period.

Here’s a super simple way to prolong the life of your bunches of flowers. Make sure to follow the instructions – a little goes a long way with the ingredients involved.

Follow these steps to ensure you get the most out of your flowers:

  1. Start with a clean vase (glass or ceramic).
  2. Put 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or white vinegar into the vase.
  3. Put 1 tbsp sugar (raw is preferred) into the vase.
  4. Fill up the vase with enough water to cover a few inches of the stems.
  5. Mix vinegar, sugar, and water in vase until sugar granules are dissolved.
  6. Trim 2 inches off of flower stems on a diagonal and place into vase.
  7. Change water solution every three days.
  8. Clean the vase every time you change water and trim 2 more inches off of the stems at a diagonal when you do this too.
  9. Make sure no leaves or petals fall into the vase - if they do, simply remove them and change the water solution again. Leaving petal and leaves in the vase water causes your bunch of flowers to wilt faster.
