Live the high life in one of these ultra-stylish stays.

One of the great things about booking an Airbnb is that you have more privacy and can make yourself more at home than in a hotel. And what makes them even better is that they can offer some serious design inspiration to employ back at your own home. 

New South Wales has plenty to offer as far as stunning holiday locations go. Whether you're partial to a beach holiday or prefer a secluded stay in the mountains, the eastern state has it all.

From a charming nautical shack in Pittwater to a lovingly restored historic cottage in Dubbo, each of these design-led abodes in New South Wales will offer plenty of design inspiration as well as a much needed getaway.

1. The Repose, Dubbo

Repose - It means rest, relaxation and slowing down, which is exactly what’s on offer at The Repose. This lovingly restored historic cottage in the heart of Dubbo in western New South Wales is owned and run by Jemima and Bede Aldridge—the couple behind leather goods business Saddler & Co—and their friends Ric and Moir Jones. The charming accommodation features a lovely courtyard, beds for four guests, an indoor fireplace, and Aesop skincare.

2. Apartmento, Byron Bay

This minimally-styled, two bedroom Airbnb embraces a ‘less is more’ approach, with earthy muted tones and natural wood furnishings throughout. The design is a reflection of the creators brand 'St Agni', an iconic boutique lifestyle label. After a day at the beach, guests can also sip on a range of complimentary rejuvenating teas as supplied by Byron Bay's own boutique tea company MAYDE TEA, and luxuriate under the heavenly rain shower, soaking in a selection of Aesop amenities.

3. The Still, Shoal Bay

Just a short 2.5-hour drive from Sydney and only thirty minutes from the up-and-coming hub of Newcastle, the sandy beaches of Shoal Bay are a no-brainer for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Our accommodation recommendation? The Still—a designer retreat just footsteps from the azure ocean and the ultimate place to just be...still. The tropical haven accommodates nine guests.

4. Durana House, Bowral

Built in the 1860s this quaint house has been updated to accommodate modern living while still retaining its old school charm. Inside, a chic monochrome palette prevails and stylish appointments have been peppered throughout. There is space for up to eight guests and several seating areas to unwind with friends and family. This home is walking distance to the main street of Bowral.

5. Bismark House, Bondi

Architecture lovers will relish the design of this stunning home in Bondi. Located just a ten minute walk from Bondi Beach, this urban oasis is the perfect Sydney summer stay that sleeps up to eight guests. The mix of designer and vintage furniture curated by David Harrison and Karen McCartney and a garden conceived by William Dangar of Dangar Barin Smith means this abode is as stylish as they come.

6. Orchard Cottage, Blue Mountains

This delightful Hamptons-style retreat in Leura is perfect for families or groups of friends wishing to experience luxury living. It accommodates up to ten guests and has plenty of space for everyone including pets. This well-appointed home boasts an indoor fireplace that's perfect for the chilly mountain nights, contemporary open-plan living spaces, and complimentary wine to imbibe on patio or balcony.

7. The Beach House, Gerroa

Summer days in Australia call for long days spent by the water, and we can't think of a better place to do this than at this beachside oasis. The luxury residence houses 10 guests and is perfect for entertaining. There's two open sandstone fireplaces, a huge balcony with an inbuilt BBQ, and plenty of space for unwinding and taking in the ocean views.

8. The Little Black Shack, Pittwater

This original timber and sandstone fisherman's cottage is about as adorable as Airbnbs get. Board an old timber ferry at Palm Beach that will take you to a secluded beach and bush shack that's filled with nautical decor and sleeps up to four guests.

9. Dovecote, Gerringong

It's likely that you've come across this award-winning property on your Instagram feeds. Dovecote undoubtedly offers one of the most unique and beautiful stays that NSW has to offer.
