Where to Travel in Australia in 2021, According to Your Star Sign
Farewell 2020, see you never again. Hello 2021, a year where we’re predicting we will rediscover the joys and pleasures of local travel in a big, big way. Our own backyard is vast and beautiful, and we can't wait to explore more of it in the new year – restrictions permitting, of course.
We’ve come up with a bumper list of must-visit Australian destinations for 2021, all sorted by which would best suit each zodiac sign. Happy travels, everyone.
Aquarius: Uluru, Northern Territory
Thoughtful, intuitive and full of curiosity, the destination at the top of every Aquarius’ travel list in 2021 has to be Uluru. This incredible Australian destination is a testament to our country’s rich history and the culture of our First Nations people. Visiting Uluru is an awe-inspiring and humbling journey, and will provide the endlessly intellectual Aquarius signs a chance to grow and learn, something that they’re always looking for when it comes to travel.
Pisces: Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia
This pristine world heritage site, located outside of Exmouth (about 1200 km from Perth) on the west coast of Australia, is a must-visit for any water sign. Pisces babies will relish the opportunity to dive deep into the Indian Ocean, swimming with humpback whales, turtles, dugongs, whale sharks and manta rays. Satisfy your empathy and love for our beautiful ocean with a trip to this incredible Australian destination.
Aries: Broken Hill, New South Wales
Full of energy and with a healthy sense of adventure, fiery Aries signs need to get their feet in the dirt at Broken Hill, stat. Make a road trip of it and drive from your starting point, taking the time to explore our big, beautiful country – and satisfy that Aries thirst for new experiences while you’re at it. Just remember: the best trips can sometimes be just as much about the journey as they are the destination.
Taurus: Margaret River, Western Australia
Now that the Western Australian border is open again, there’s absolutely no excuse for Taurus signs to be anywhere but Margaret River. This stunning part of West Australia, about three hours drive from Perth, is home to incredible beaches, gorgeous vistas and – most importantly – some of the best food and wine in the country. Try every delicious wine under the sun and then settle in for epic degustation meals, music to the ears of every pleasure-seeking Taurus out there.
Gemini: Melbourne, Victoria
It’s one of the best cities in Australia, and after the year they’ve had, it’s time to show them some love. Gemini signs – sociable, quick-witted and the life of the party – will love making a trip to Melbourne, eating out at the city’s great restaurants, visiting the world-class galleries and catching up with friends or family in the city. Book your tickets now.
Cancer: Staycation
Cancerians are homebodies at heart, which means that their dream local travel itinerary for 2021 is actually a staycation. There’s never been a better time for it, though, with hotels across the country offering great deals for weekends rediscovering your city. Make a whole thing of it: take your best friend, your sister or your partner, and indulge in the spa or even a local bubble bath, before getting dressed up for a delicious dinner. You’ll look at your hometown with whole new eyes.
Leo: Yamba, New South Wales
You’re always chasing the sun, you Leo signs, so you better book that trip to Yamba pronto. This coastal town, found wedged in Northern New South Wales, is fast becoming the must-visit destination for everyone who doesn’t want to join the crowds over in Byron Bay. Yamba has everything: mouthwateringly good seafood, breathtaking views and the opportunity to swim with dolphins, if you’re lucky. Count us in.
Virgo: Barossa, South Australia
Virgos love an itinerary, which means they’ll be more than home in the Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s best wine-making regions, not to mention one of the best wine regions in the world. Give a Virgo the task of creating a hitlist of vineyards and watch them blossom, crafting a delicious tour that will have you leaving your holiday with a robust wine cellar, and an appreciation for everything on offer in this great destination.
Libra: Tasmania (by bike)
A Libra is always up for an adventure, which is why they’re perfectly suited for a cycling or trek holiday. The cycle route along the Tasmanian east coast is considered one of the best in Australia, so that’s a great place to start, or if you’re not a mad keen cyclist, why not plan a stunning road trip instead and make 2021 the year you finally tick off the Great Ocean Road.
Scorpio: Darwin, Northern Territory
Satisfy the deep, inner curiosity and passion of a Scorpio sign by booking a trip to Darwin in 2021. This fascinating city has something for everyone: delicious fresh food – think spicy laksas, rich, coconut-y Indonesian dishes and more mangoes than you could ever possibly eat – gorgeous swimming holes and lots and lots of incredible native Australian landscape, including plenty of crocodiles. See them from the safety of a crocodile park, though. Not even a Scorpio should feel brave enough to go swimming in any place where a crocodile has been spotted.
Sagittarius: Bellingen, New South Wales
With their love of exploring and their desire to connect with nature, Sagittarius signs will get so much out of a trip to Bellingen. Here, they can take a long walk through the lush surroundings of the Promised Lands to find the Never Never Creek, a spot for summer swimming and picnics and feeling at one one with the world. It’s a peaceful, special place, and one that Sagitarrius signs will fall in love with.
Capricorn: The Whitsundays, Queensland
Hardworking and ambitious, Capricorns love to treat themselves, and there’s no better place to do that than the Whitsundays. Book yourself into a gorgeous resort, like the ones on Hamilton or Hayman Islands and soak up that beautiful Queensland sun on a trip that you’ll never forget. You’re worth it, and after the year you’ve probably had, you need this vacation more than ever.
