Right now, the world could use a little more cheer. There's only one place we turn when we're craving a good laugh, and that place is Netflix. With thousands upon thousands of titles in the palm of your hand, we thought we'd narrow down the best movies, series and stand-up specials to provide you with some comic relief. We've included some classic favourites alongside some of the freshest and funniest new releases the streaming service has to offer. Prepare the snacks because you'll want to binge every title on this list this week.
Tall Girl
Being a teenager is tricky enough, but when you stand out when all you want to do it blend in things can be tough. For Jodi, a six-foot-one teenager, she's ready to stand up tall and embrace herself like never before. Throw in a high school love triangle and you've got your new favourite series to binge.
Ingrid Goes West
Aubrey Plaza can do no wrong in our book, and she brings her signature off-beat style of comedy to this ninety-minute gem. With Elizabeth Olsen co-staring, Plaza's character (a social media stalker) moves to L.A. after a stint in a psychiatric ward. Things don't go to plan, to say the least.
Pitch Perfect 3
The third instalment of this cult series picks up as a capella stars The Bellas reunite after college to test their voices in one last competition. Everyone's back on board including Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick and Hailee Steinfeld.
The Good Place
All four seasons of this smash hit series are available to binge, which in our opinion, is the perfect amount. Follow along with Kristen Bell as her character Eleanor surprisingly winds up at the Good Place after her death. To stay, she'll need to become a better person.
Murder Mystery
Your fave comedy duo Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler reunite in this hilarious movie from last year. They play an average New York City couple excited to be taking a long-awaited European vacation but who soon wind up in the middle of a murder mystery on a billionaire's yacht.
Friends From College
With just two seasons, we highly recommend this series that will definitely make you laugh out loud at how relatable the storylines are. Friends From College centres around a close group of friends who reunite twenty years after graduation to find that love and friendships don't get easier.
Rough Night
Join Girls' Ilana Glazer and perennial favourite Scar-Jo as a group of five college friends reunite for a bachelorette party full of sunbathing, cocktail drinking and an accidental murder of a male stripper.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
Combining hilarious chats with the best in the comedy industry, vintage cars and a cup of coffee, Jerry Seinfeld's talk show has gained a loyal following over its six seasons. This show is almost addictive as the cups of joe featured each episode, and you can expect to see familiar faces such as Barack Obama, Ellen DeGeneres and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, to name a few.
Michelle Wolf: Joke Show
This hilarious stand-up special from comedian Michelle Wolf is perfect for a mid-week pick-me-up as she uses her witty sense of humour to navigate topics such as outrage culture, feminism and childbirth.
The Standups
If you're a fan of stand-up then The Standups should be at the top of your watch list this week. From Fortune Feimster to Nikki Glaser, each half-hour episode is funnier than the last and there are two whole seasons to tide you over.
Wine Country
You really couldn't pick a better cast for 2019's favourite Netflix original movie. Starring Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Tina Fey, hilarity ensues as a group of life long friends meet up to celebrate a birthday in beautiful Napa Valley. Grab a glass of rosé and buckle up for a laugh a minute.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Kimmy Schmidt spent fifteen years of her life in a cult, so the bright lights of New York City are a shock to the system. Together with her wannabe Broadway actor housemate, they help each other navigate the brutal realities of modern life and provide us with an iconic comedy duo for the history books.
Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby
You've seen him on SNL and maybe even on his very own late-night talk show, and Seth Meyers has treated us to an hour-long special where he shares some entertaining and relatable tidbits from his own personal life.
Big Mouth
Puberty's rough. This edgy, animated comedy created by real-life friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg recounts what it's like to be a young teenager and is strangely addictive due to its weird and wonderful characters including hormone monsters and a shame wizard.
