11 New Shows You Cannot Miss This Month

From the second series of 'Heartbreak High' to an adaptation of 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning, April is an exciting month for TV.

As we enter the fourth month of the 2024 calendar, it’s time to slow down and take stock. What have you achieved so far? What goals are you still hoping to kick? And most importantly, which new series are coming out that you should cancel plans for?

Emmy-winning documentary series The Jinx captivated a global audience when it was released in 2015. The six-part series delved into the crimes committed by convicted murderer and real estate mogul Robert Durst. This was the first time Durst had cooperated with a journalist, and over several years, filmmaker Andrew Jarecki was able to put together a story which gained worldwide attention. Now, eight years later, the thrilling series is back, and continues to investigate these vicious crimes, and the aftermath caused by them.

2. Baby Reindeer

5. The Sympathizer

As he digs deeper into the case, he discovers more than he bargained for, unearthing salacious family secrets that could land him in serious trouble.

7. Going Home with Tyler Cameron

Okay, so dubbing this a “docuseries” might be a bit of a stretch, but we’re still going to watch – and likely love – the cheekily titled Going Home with Tyler Cameron. Over eight episodes, watch as The Bachelorette heartthrob moves back to his hometown of Jupiter, Florida, to realise his dream of starting his own construction and home renovation company. The perfect kind of content to fend off the Sunday Scaries.

8. Crime Scene Berlin: Nightlife Killer

Where can I watch it? Netflix

You can always rely on Netflix to deliver your true crime fix. From the makers of Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich comes this three-part docuseries focusing on Berlin’s notorious ‘Darkroom Murderer’, responsible for terrorising the city’s party scene in 2012. Following on from Netflix’s American Crime Scene series, Crime Scene Berlin: Nightlife Killer marks the first international version of the franchise.

9. The Veil

Where can I watch it? Disney+

Starring Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Elisabeth Moss as undercover MI6 agent Imogen Salter, The Veil is an international spy thriller traversing Istanbul, Paris, and London. Based around a ‘deadly game of truth and lies’ played by two women – one with a secret, and one on a mission to expose it before lives are lost – The Veil consists of six episodes which will be released weekly. Remember, patience is a virtue.

10. The Big Door Prize, Season 2

Where can I watch it? Apple TV+

If you loved the writing on Schitt’s Creek, you’re in for a treat. Created by David West Read, who won an Emmy for his work on the much-adored Rose family series, The Big Door Prize is another dose of small town, character-driven comedy. Based on M.O. Walsh’s novel about a mysterious potential-predicting ‘Morpho’ machine that wreaks havoc on the lives, careers, and relationships of everyone who encounters it, Season 2 prepares Deerfield residents for “the next stage.” And what exactly is that? You’ll have to press play to find out.

11. Fallout

Where can I watch it? Amazon Prime Video

While we anxiously await the next instalment of The Last of Us, this series adaptation of another post-apocalyptic video game should help tide us over. Co-created by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (co-writer of Captain Marvel) and set Los Angeles in 2296, Fallout follows Vault Dweller Lucy (Yellowjackets’ Ella Purnell), who has spent her entire life underground after a nuclear war 219 years ago. Sent to the surface to save her father, Lucy must protect herself from radiation, mutants, and bandits. Sounds chill.
