10 Places to See Beautiful Blooms Over The Easter Long Weekend

Spring is (finally) unfurling, which means cherry blossoms, wildflowers and garden landscapes are back on the agenda. In other words: take us there.

There’s something about Easter that feels perfectly aligned with the arrival of spring – the days are getting longer, the air feels lighter, and the landscapes are slowly returning to color. All across the USA, cherry blossoms, wildflowers, and garden blooms begin to unfurl just in time for the long weekend, offering a ready-made excuse to plan a spontaneous escape somewhere fresh and florally uplifting.

Whether you’re drawn to pink-lined city walks, rolling fields of bluebonnets, or unexpected desert florals, these destinations capture that fleeting window when winter finally loosens its grip and everything feels just a little more verdant and optimistic.

Washington, D.C.

Easter beautifully coincides with peak cherry blossom season (hooray!) in the U.S. capital, when the Tidal Basin is framed by fluffy, soft pink Yoshino blooms. The National Cherry Blossom Festival typically runs from late March into early April, making this one of the most iconic spring experiences in the country – equal parts scenic walk and cultural moment.

Texas Hill Country, Texas

For wide-open landscapes washed in color – like something out of a scene from The Wizard of Oz – the Texas Hill Country delivers rolling fields of bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and primrose florals. Around Fredericksburg and Austin, roadsides and meadows become dense with wildflowers, creating a distinctly American take on spring.

Saguaro National Park, Arizona

There’s even a month-long festival thrown in honor of the blooms (Skagit Valley Tulip Festival) which dates back to 1984, and features a parade, street fair, photo contest and art exhibits.

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston feels quintessentially made for spring weekends, with the city’s historic homes framed by magnolia trees, azaleas and wisteria in full bloom. Here, the temps are warm but comfortable, making it ideal for an Easter long weekend spent wandering gardens, exploring cobblestone streets, and soaking up the soft coastal air.

Antelope Valley, California

If conditions align, the (aptly named) Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve erupts into a vivid sea of orange poppies throughout April. Located just outside Los Angeles, the desert landscape might be a stark contrast to other, more traditional, spring destinations, but it’s no less bright, expansive, and cinematic. Pack the camera.

Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee & North Carolina

Known as the “Wildflower National Park,” the Smokies are home to thousands of flowering plant species that begin emerging through early spring. Expect dogwood, trillium and violets along scenic hiking trails, making it a stunning Easter long weekend destination for nature lovers.

Macon, Georgia

Despite being often overlooked, Macon is home to more than 300,000 cherry blossom trees that bloom in delicate shades of pale pink each spring. The city’s slower pace and historic architecture make a quaint and cozy alternative to busier Easter blossom destinations.

Monterey County, California

For coastal spring scenery, you can’t look past Monterey County, with its wildflowers laced along dramatic cliff edges (particularly at Garrapata State Park and Calla Lily Valley). The combination of fresh, salty ocean air and seasonal blooms makes this an especially memorable Easter escape.

Nantucket Island, Massachusetts

While daffodil season doesn’t technically kick off until mid-April, there is always the chance of catching an early bloom over Easter (if you’re lucky!). The island hosts an annual festival in honor of the butter-hued flower – 2026 marks 50 years since its inception – and if you narrowly miss the window you can take comfort in the region’s beautiful beaches and cobblestone streets.
